“Apps versus mobile web” is one of the oldest debates in the modern mobile world, but it’s one that never seems to go away.  86% of mobile internet time is spent in apps, but what does that really mean?  Will HTML5 deliver a “web app” world?  Will discoverability and usage issues that are prevalent in the app world be overcome?

Members of the IAB’s Games, Social Media, Tablet, and Mobile Committees are invited to a Town Hall Conversation on this vital strategic topic.  The IAB has assembled a group of industry experts on the current mobile content landscape to share their thoughts and opinions on apps and mobile web today, the pros and cons of each, and what may be coming next for content publishers looking to reach people on their smartphones and tablets.
As a Town Hall, we are looking for you to bring your questions, but also your thoughts on the subject as well.  We’re looking forward to a lively debate.

Registration for this event is now closed.

Moderated by:
Joe Laszlo, Senior Director, Mobile Marketing Center, IAB

This event will cover:
  • The tradeoffs in developing an app versus a mobile web presence today;
  • Whether there are some kinds of content or publisher that are better suited for one or the other;
  • How monetization prospects differ between them; and
  • How changing technology will change this equation.
Do apps have a future?  Come to this Town Hall and find out.
